Les Miserables

Rated: PG-13: suggestive and sexual material, violence, and thematic elements

i recently saw this movie, and thought it was amazing! This film was also super sad and dramatic in many ways, it is hard not to cry. There is absolutely no talking, it is all just constant singing. This story is the story of  Jean Valjean, and how he dedicated his life to take care of  Cosette, the daughter of Fantine, a woman who was fired from her job and begins to become sick. He takes Fantine to a hospital, (spoiler!!!!!) where she dies in the bed, but before, she asked Jean to find her daughter and take care of her, after all, Jean in the Major, even though he started as a prisoner, number 24601. Cosette becomes rich, and falls in love with Marius, another rich man. Eponine is a woman who is poor, and loves Marius, although he dose not feel for her as she does for him. The French Revolution then comes- and so on( lives are lost, that sort of thing) This movie is a great movie.  i would give this  movie 10 of 10 thumbs up, and i think it's okay for ages 12 and up- due to many mature themes that are set in this depressing film.

Parental Guidance

Rated: PG (of course) For some rude humor

Well, yesterday was Christmas, and Les Miserables was a choice of three, but this film was chosen. This film was about two parents who are very strict and "new school" They try to be the best parents. One day, they leave their kids with their parents and are known to be "old school", who have a sense of humor, and are not as strict in parenting, come, and the kids see a whole more fun side of life.It has many life lessons hidden in the script. This movie was okay. It did  have a lot of laugh scenes, but what was disappointing, was that this was not a Christmas film. *9 of 10 thumbs up* I think this movie is okay for ages 8 and up. ( mostly from the creepy SAW scenes ;)

Rise of the Guardians

Rated: PG (thematic elements and some mildly scary action)

Chris Pine, Alec Baldwin, Jude Law, Hugh Jackman, and Dakota Goyo all play important roles in this family friendly film based upon the 6 book series by William Joyce. I was S.U.P.E.R exited for this film to come out to all theaters on Thanksgiving. In this film, the tooth fairy (Toothena), the easter bunny (E. Aster, A.K.A: Bunnymund), Santa Claus (North), and the sandman (Sandy) unite as one, to defeat the BOOGEYMAN ( Pitch ). But the four of them need a new guardian, and call for Jack Frost. As it turns out, all five of them were once normal people with normal lives, until the man in the moon (MIM) called for them to protect children, giving them powers and new bodys. MIM is only mentioned in the books, though. ( in the movie it is just the moon) I saw this movie in 3-D, which I thought would be very "pop-outie" but even my 3 1/2 year old cousin kept taking off her glasses- WOW. The sandman never talks, but communicates through sand images. Pitch did not seem to even frighten my little cousin, she just called him...."BAD!" The movie was very funny, and I rate it FINE for ages 4+!!
*9 out of 10 thumbs up!*

Oz: The Great and Powerful

Rated: PG (sequences of action , some scary images, and some brief language) WARNING: CONTAINS SPOILERS!
YES... another OZ film set for release March 8 2013. But this is NO remake, it is a completely different story from the Oscar Diggs (The Wizard) point of view. It comes to a point where Oscar must make a decision close to the one Dorothy makes in 'The Wizard of Oz'. He can own all of the treasure of oz, if he defeats the wicked witch of the East( Evanora), where as Dorothy can return home if she defeats a wicked witch (Theodora, the good witch of the south, until transformed to with of the west). This film is kid\family friendly, and I think it will be a box office HIT!! I read the book, so I know what happens. Don't be expecting any witches to die though, since they die in the wizard of oz (this takes place before Dorothy) The book was almost 200 pages, and talked about almost every part of the movie. Many things are WAY more clear, once you discover which witch is which! About 3 parts of the movie aren't in the book, which is a little upsetting. OK , saw the movie last night and enjoyed it so much, I think it was the best 2 hours of my life! It was a little jumpy 4 or 5 times, but other than the darkness this movie was family appropriate.
*10 of 10 thumbs up* I think this film is appropriate for ages 9 and up ( as a woman is seen in pants and a slip, while rolling on the floor, that's about the only iffy thing)

paranorman

RATED: PG
In this strange, dark, and somewhat cruel, film about the Salem witch trials, an 11 year old named Norman, has the strange ability to see ghosts, which really is just- creative?? Any ways, this may seem like an average PG rated show, but most reveiws say it should be PG-13, because of its mature content. My mom and I were the only ones in the theater, of course this movie was not a "hunger games phenomenon"! There were about 6-8 parts that just ruined this movie for me. I say this movie is for ages 12+, because of the content. * 5 OUT OF 10 THUMBS UP*

Battleship

    Rated:PG-13

Aliens, battles, sinking, and deaths complete this LONG movie based on the Hasbro game. It is 2 and a half hours long, and starts off super slow, the last hour and a half is both humorous ans intense. There are about 4 parts made to make you laugh. The cursing was not very strong, which is surprising for this movie. Rihanna was actually a very good actress. There is one crude comment for laughs towards the end, that I think seals the PG-13 rating.  9 out of 10*s I rate this okay for ages 11 and up.

The candymakers

BY: WENDY MASS

This is a story that will make you hungry, as well as entertained. It is VERY long. On the nook its about 1,025 pages, but its only about 500 in paperback. I loved this book so much, I might consider reading it again. It is split into four parts, each the story/mystery told by each characters point of view.  Its about four children competing in an annual nation wide candy making contest. TRUST ME, i think everybody that likes candy, mystery's,or just a good book to bite time, this is just for you. 9 of 10 *'s and I say its OK for ages 8 and up( IF YOUR 8 YEAR OLD CAN READ GOOD)- THIS IS A 5TH GRADE LEVELED BOOK!!!

NEWS

We (Me and my bro.) have decided to add a little more to this blog. Now, we wont only be reviewing movies, but TV shows and books as well!! Keep checking in every weekend to see new posts. Give me ideas to review ( OK PG-13 OR PG ONLY!) and no adult books.

the woman in black

Rated:PG-13

A chilling tween beginner horror movie. It had no violence or curse words, just a creepy story line is why it deserves its PG-13 rating.  young lawyer travels to a town where he finds that the town is being haunted by a young woman in black. In an interview, Daniel Radcliffe says the show is not for those under the age of 11. But I say it is not for those under 12. The movie only made me jump once, although many scenes are meant to scare. In the UK many parts are cut, to keep the 12A rating. NO violence or gore, and hardly any swears, are in this film. 10 of 10*s

Chimpanzee

Rated:G
this is a great family friendly movie that I think kids of all ages will enjoy. It was very cute and sad, but does have some positive life lessons. Oscar, a young chimpanzee lives, and grows up with his mom, but an accident tears them apart, Oscar sets out to find his mom, but gives up and goes to look for a new mom, while taking care of himself. No mom will take him, because they have children of their own, but then an extraordinary miracle happens. It is a true story caught on tape. NOBODY has ever seen it happen, and humans would call it impossible, you'll have to see it to belive it! 8 of 10*s. I say its ok for ages 4 and up, mostly because of the eating mammals, and attacks.

the avengers

Rated:PG-13

The avengers is really just another one of those high-budget films about superheros. In this action and adventure flick, Nick Fury brings together a team of superheros in order to stop the evil LOKI.It is filled with many intense scenes, and I think it deserves a 9 of 10*s and is probrably OK for most 11 year olds, but it really depends on what you think your child can see. It is a very long, but entertaining show, and me and my bro. loved it!!!!

D-box motion seats review

d-box motion seats:
The show I watched in D-box was Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows part 2. The seats did move a lot... except the talking scenes, witch i would say is 2% of the movie. The seats have 5 different motion levels, including an emergency stop. And if you fall off ( probably won't happen ) the seat stops. If you have motion sickness you probably should not choose d- box. Unless you want to pay all the money to put the setting on low.

according to what I experienced I rate d- box motion seats a 10 of 10*s

the nine lives of Chloe King

TV-14/TV-PG.

This show was recently cancelled but had me "grippin the couch" the whole time. I watched each episode, and rate it a 9 of 10*s and say its OK for ages 11 and up.You can watch the whole show on Netflix

Big miracle

Rated:PG
This movie is about 3 whales that get stuck in ice, they must be saved. Only, none of the townspeople care. So its up to the only people that do care, a news reporter and his Ex-girlfriend.Will any people help and will any whale survive?* 3 thumbs up! * this movie was sad and interesting, but not too entertaining......
